This Privacy Policy explains how Stickforge (by Noldo) handles information when you play the browser (web) version of the game. We do not ask for your email address or other contact details to play online.
Who is responsible?
Stickforge is operated by Noldo. For privacy questions, contact us at contact@stickforge.com.
What stays on your device (browser storage)
The web client stores some data in your browser’s local storage so the game can remember you between visits. This may include:
- A random guest ID that identifies your profile on our servers
- Your chosen nickname
- Game settings (language, graphics, audio, controls, and similar preferences)
- A cached copy of your account progress returned from the server
- Other small flags needed for tutorials, squads, or UI state
You can clear this data anytime through your browser settings. You can also use the in-game account backup feature to export or restore your browser profile on another device (keep that file private).
Game mod files downloaded to your browser
When you join a server, your browser downloads that server’s mod content (graphics, audio, and game data) so the match matches what other players see. These files are game content only, not your account or personal details. Some may be kept in your browser cache to load faster next time. You can remove them by clearing site data / cached files for Stickforge in your browser settings; your player profile on the server is not affected.
What is sent to our online servers
Stickforge is a multiplayer game. When you play online, your browser connects to our master server and to game servers over an encrypted connection (HTTPS / WSS). We use these servers to:
- List available game servers and let you join a match
- Verify your guest ID and nickname
- Run real-time multiplayer gameplay (movement, combat, chat, squads, and related game events)
- Save and load your player profile (progress, stats, inventory, cosmetics, and similar game data)
- Operate leaderboards and basic moderation (for example chat restrictions)
Player profiles for online play are stored on the game server in data files under the active game mod folder (for example mods/<mod>/players/data/). Each profile is linked to your guest ID (shown internally as an ID such as web_…), not to an email.
While you are connected, the server may also process technical information needed to run the game, such as your connection status, client version, and gameplay statistics. We do not require an email address for the web version.
In-game chat
Messages you send in public lobby chat or in-game chat are transmitted to the game server so other players can see them. Recent lobby messages may be stored briefly on the server so new players see recent context. Please do not share personal information in chat. Chat content is filtered.
Analytics
The web version uses Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage information (such as how often the game is played, which pages or screens are viewed, and basic interaction events). This helps us understand how the game is used and improve it. Google may use cookies and receive technical data (for example browser type and general location). Google processes this data under its own privacy policy: Google Privacy Policy. You can limit tracking through your browser settings or ad/analytics opt-out tools offered by Google.
What we do not collect (web version)
- Email addresses or mailing addresses for guest play
- Real names, phone numbers, or government IDs
- Payment card details in the browser (purchases, if offered elsewhere, use separate storefronts)
Why we process this data
We use the information above only to:
- Provide and improve the multiplayer game experience
- Keep your progress and settings across sessions
- Protect players (moderation, anti-abuse, and server stability)
How long we keep data
Browser storage lasts until you clear it or until your browser removes it. Server-side player files remain while your account exists on that server. Operational logs, if any, are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, then removed or aggregated.
Sharing with others
We do not sell your personal information. We share gameplay data only as needed to run the service (for example with server hosts that run official Stickforge game servers under our direction). Other players can see your nickname, character, and public chat messages during play.
Your choices
- Clear browser local storage to reset local preferences and guest identity
- Choose a nickname that does not reveal personal information
- Contact us to ask questions or request help with data stored on our servers
Children
Stickforge is an online multiplayer game. If you are under the age required in your country to consent to online services, please ask a parent or guardian before playing and before contacting us.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the web game after an update means you accept the revised policy.
